MYERS-BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR: INFJ

Recently I've been interested in the more scientific approach to a personality test known as Myers-BriggsType Indicator. The test asks a series of real-life questions and depending on the anwers, you are assigned 4 distinctive types. There are 16 personality types in total.
My Type is INFJ
I - Introvert
N - Intuitive
F - Feeling
J - Judging

Apparently it is the rarest of the personality types.

INFJcafe
(I love that I'm paired with Lisa Simpson! She's my favorite character. I used to play those old Simpson video games in arcades and I always played her.)

There are lots of characteristics that generalizes the INFJ types but here are some specific characteristics that I feel are truly me.

- "Being true to yourself" and the sense of identity is important. We stick to our morals and ideals regardless.
- Guarded. Wears an Armor. Protective of their inner self. Very Private.
- Loves Books, Art, Music & Poetry
- Loves Quotes and Affirmations
- Hates Evil and Injustice especially against those who cannot defend themselves
- Very Intuitive
- Spiritual
- INFJs don’t fall in love easily. They are also hard to manipulate. They easily ‘smell a rat’ and very carefully avoid all traps.** from alignedsigns

It's fun getting to know about yourself in a more scientific point of view. We all have our own personal strengths and weaknesses. It is all on how you decide to see them.

Try it for yourself and maybe you'll find out something interesting about yourself you didn't fully realize.

A LITTLE BIT OF RANT: OMG!! I can't stop eating the Lay's Chessy Garlic Bread Chips and Oreos! Please someone stop me...but be warned, I will punch you in the face.

SEPHORA HAUL: 10/25/13

Went out to Sephora with the intention of buying a Red Lipstick but ended up deciding to try out a drugstore brand first and getting the following items instead:

(from left to right)

*Notes: Jasmine, Wood, Vanilla, Tonka Bean
*Style: Feminine. Bold. Lovely.

*Notes: Neroli, Raspberry, Green Mandarin, Jasmine, Orange Blossom, Guimauve, Vanilla, Heliotrope, Sandalwood
*Style: Seductive. Beautiful. Sensuous.

I am a BIG SUCKER for luxe packaging and I love both YSL and Dolce & Gabbana packaging. But I have to say that I am LOVING the Dolce & Gabbana Pour Femme. It will definitely will become a staple in my perfume collection. I'm not sure if the picture does the packaging justice but it is very soft velvet. I love the color way of it as well: powerful and seductive. Amazing!

*Disclaimer: the * represents that the descriptions of the items are from the SEPHORA website. I don't own the description.

DRUGSTORE MAKEUP HAUL: 10.19ISH.13

I usually stick to two brands at drugstores: Revlon & Physicans Formula.
The reason being is that these two brands carry some products without talc which I heard was bad for your skin. Unfortunately that greatly diminishes my options when I'm searching for new makeup.

There are lots of ingredients that are claimed to be hurtful but talc and parabens are the main ingredients that I look out for. Although I am more selective of the makeup that I chose, I have been prone to purchase items that carry those ingredients but I use them very sparingly.

These colors are great for everyday, natural looks. Don't be thrown off by the shimmer & sparkles. They brighten up the eyes for a more awaken and refreshed look.

1. Physicans Formula Shimmer Strips Nude Eyes Eyeliner Trio - around $12

2. Revlon Photoready Primer + Shadow in Impressionist -  around $10

At the moment I am obsessed with the whole natural, almost no makeup, subtle look. I blame it on the movie "Pride & Prejudice" starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfayden.

I cannot overemphasize how much I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!
The makeup and the costumes in the movie were absolutely beautiful.

(I love this scene the most ~)

Love Love Love the Makeup & Fashion in this movie.

I know at the moment the whole burgundy lips with graphic cat eyes are in for this fall but I can't help loving this look for Fall.

Key Notes for this Look:
1. Full Lashes
2. Brown Eyeliner
3. Slightly Dark, Nude Smoky Eyeshadow
4. Full Medium thick brows
4. Nude Rose Lips

Colin Firth makes an amazing Mr. Darcy as well <3

**Disclaimer: I don't own any of the pictures from the movie "Pride & Prejudice". I found them on Pinterest. I hope that's enough.

Btw, I can't wait to see the movie "Belle" based on the life of Dido Elizabeth Belle. Can you tell I love Period-based & British movies :)

Lots of Love,
Illumi

QUARTER LIFE - BEDROOM EDITION

I am a sentimental hoarder. I keep things that are far distant memories...like stickers I had since elementary school. Seriously.

Along with my Fall Cleaning of my closet, I decided everything needed for a lack of a better word purging. During this process, I asked myself a question when deciding to keep something or throw away something. "If I were to invite a future boyfriend to my bedroom..." (Yes, I'm single.)

As of right now, it looks like a 10 year old hoarder lives here.

My room pretty much stayed the same style for over +10 years.
But it's time for New Beginnings.
A bit more Grown Up Romantic, Feminine, Shabby Chic, CLEAN vibe.
**Disclaimer: I don't own the photos. This is just a mood board (inspiration) of what I would like my new bedroom to look like.

MY PERFUME COLLECTION

I'll never forget the day when I realized how essential perfume/cologne was. I was going to the mall and the guy in front of me just smelled DIVINE. I loved the smell so much I stop to ask him what cologne he was wearing. It was YSL L'Homme. It may be odd to say but right then and there I concluded: All Men should smell like this

According to Sephora.com
" ...a man with style and sensuality, this fresh, woody fragrance is effervescent with bright, sparking notes of bergamot, ginger, and vetiver. "
Notes: Bergamot, Cedar, Ozonic Notes, White Ginger, Basil Flower, White Pepper, Violet Leaves, Cedarwood, Haiti Vetiver, Tonka Bean. "
Style: Magnetic. Sensual. Intriguing. "

I spent a couple of days debating and smelling almost all the perfume that Sephora had to offer and purchased my first perfume: Miss Dior Cherie  by Christian Dior
According to Sephora.com
"  ...inspired by love and romance..."
Notes: Italian Mandarin Essence, Egyptian Jasmine Absolute, Indonesian Patchouli Essence.
Style: Pure. Precious. Elegant. "

My Second Perfume: Flowerbomb by Vicktor & Rolf
" ...giving you the impression of living life in your own secret garden, away from reality..."
Notes: Sambac Jasmine, Centifolia Rose, Cattleya Orchid, Ballerina Freesia, Patchouli"
Style: Oriental. Gourmand. Floral.  "

My Third Perfume: L.I.L.Y by Stella McCartney
"...vivid and sensual..."
Notes: Black Truffles, Black Pepper, Lily of the Valley, Pink Pepper, White Musk, Oak Moss, Patchouli
Style: Green. Floral. Chypre. "

As Christian Dior said "A Woman's perfume tells more about her than her handwriting."

According to a study by Dr. Alan Hirsh, men are seduced by certain scents. Cosmopolitan-Scents that Seduce. In other articles, Hirsh states that delicious scents such as pumpkin pie, attracts men the most. Who knew? :)

Lots of Love,
Illumi

QUARTER LIFE - FASHION

When you are in a quarter life crisis, you question who you are as a person and what you want in life.
Personally, I am an over-thinker & a sentimental hoarder.

I have decided to take the fashion route more seriously than I have ever done before. As a little girl, I loved sweaters. I loved sweaters, jeans, t-shirts & jackets. I was terrible at dressing myself. I would steal clothes from my mom, my dad (his windbreakers), from my brother and just look like a hot mess. At times, I would come to school in my pajamas and I really didn't care. I went to the mall in my pajamas. I was a tomboy, never wore make-up until I was a junior in high school. It was fun while it lasted but I will only do that when I go to sleep...at least I will try.

I made a little board for myself on what I want to wear this fall/winter.

Based on My Board, I've been busy trying to sort out my closet on what it is I need to add. Like a Fall Cleaning.
I've stored away my spring clothes, made a pile to donate and a pile to throw away.

While on this journey, I've discovered that I am a true fashion hunter. I look every where that I can to find the perfect piece to add to my collection. I spend late nights just shopping online for the perfect red dress, moto jacket, and boots for the fall. It would be so easy to stick to a brand but I definitely more selective of my clothes.

I believed that the FIT is the MOST IMPORTANT element in the clothes. If the clothes doesn't not fit you, DO NOT BUY IT. I don't want to get in to the whole model issue right now, but know and accept the body that you have and learn to work with it.

I have spent years reading as many fashion styling books, most of which were incredible unhelpful to me.

As Nicki Minaj said "I am not a girl that can ever be define." I believe that is true for every girl out there. I felt that a lot of the fashion books out there on style was truly unhelpful to me because I like a lot of genres. Don't ever follow their rules, Make your Own.

And for some reason, I just have to get it out there: I HATE NOISY FASHION. By "Noisy Fashion" I mean clothes that make to much sound from the embellishments. Such as really cheap buttons that jingle or loose zippers and buckles clanking away while you walk. You might think this is silly or paranoia, but when I shop for clothes, I like to think of myself as a ninja or that I'm running away from a zombie or if I'm coming home really late at night and I don't want to wake up my parents or worse my evil dog who will bark. I want to be quiet and unhindered so I can do what I do and kick ass.

And more than ever, I buy for the longevity of the clothes. Is this dress that I can wear 2-5 years from now? Will it pass the test of time and survive the washes and wears? Your Time and Money is very important and you want to buy something that will boost you confidence and shine with you.

My Body is my Canvas and Fashion is my Art.
